HARMONY EXTENDS PATRIOT GOLF DAY TO ONE WEEK IN SEPTEMBER

The PGA of America and Play Golf America have partnered to bring us Patriot Golf Day. On September 1, public golf courses nationwide will request an additional $1 for each green fee. The funds will go to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of military duty. As an active Play Golf America facility, Harmony Golf Preserve will extend this program from one day to one week, September 1 through September 9. Each golfer playing at Harmony from Sept 1 – 9 will be asked to donate $1 to the Fallen Heroes Fund as part of this nationwide PGA initiative.

The mission of chosen benefiting organizations is to provide financial and emotional support to families of disabled or fallen American Servicemen and women as well as create educational opportunities for their children. Dan Rooney, PGA Professional and Fighter Squadron pilot for the Oklahoma Air National Guard, is spearheading Patriot Golf Day as a way to stay involved following his two tours in Iraq. The town of Harmony also holds its annual Flag Day Golf Tournament and Festival on or around June 14th each year. The event is open to the public, as it selects a different veteran’s benefit each year and is meant to bring the community together in observance of National Flag Day. The national holiday proclaimed as the commemoration of the stars and stripes by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, and later signed into law by President Truman in 1949.
