May 15th 2007 - COUNTRY KIDS DECK THE HALLS AT HARMONY
MAY 19th Open to the public Art Showing
Harmony clubhouse proudly boasts inspiring illustrations of Osceola’s youth and families of the community, taken by local amateur photographer Aimee Junnila. Aimee is a sixth generation resident of Osceola County with a tremendous talent & passion for capturing rustic, photojournalistic images of Osceola’s breathtaking landscape. The true treasures of the area are now on display at Harmony, including photographs of local people, places and objects that evoke nostalgic remembrances of our storied community.
“Taking pictures was always more of a hobby for me”, says Aimee while gleaming, “but after my boys were born [now 3 and 5 yrs old], I found the pictures did more for me & others. They tell a story about why our community is so extraordinary. The folks at Harmony thought the images were aligned with their community ideals, and asked me to share by displaying in the clubhouse - I was both humbled and flattered to accept the offer”.
Included in the collection is the winning entry for the 1st Annual Images of Osceola contest in March 2007. An image titled, “Mutton Bustin’”, featuring a young boy competing at the Silver Spurs Rodeo, is the flagship piece for the collection on display. The photo won first place and will be featured on July’s front cover of the Images of Osceola leaflet in the Osceola News Gazette.
Hundreds of Aimee’s images, along with bio and other information may be seen on her website: www.flickr.com/photos/ajunnila/ . Aimee Junnila may be reached for comment at 321-689-7026.
